Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The SSC MTS exam in 2023 is split into two parts:
- Computer Based Examination (CBE)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) (only for Havaldar post)
CBE Details
- Mode: Computer-Based
- Sessions: Two (Session-I and Session-II)
- Negative Marking: No negative marking in Session-I, but in Session-II, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Duration: 45 minutes per session (60 minutes for candidates with scribes)
Two (Session-I and Session-II) Information
Session I focuses on Numerical and Mathematical Ability, as well as Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving. It contains 40 questions divided equally between the two halves.
Session II: Candidates are examined on General Awareness, English Language and Comprehension in this session. It consists of 50 questions distributed equally between the two halves.

SSC MTS Havaldar PET (Physical Efficiency Test) & PST (Physical Standard Test) entail the following physical criteria and tests:
- Physical Standards: Different height, chest (male only), and weight (female only) parameters are established. There are exceptions for candidates from specific regions and communities.
